Hosting Opportunity for Visiting Student Musicians

March 9 - 21, 2013

A group of four young musicians and two adult chaperones from our sister city of Kurgan, Russia will be visiting the Fox Cities in March to engage with local arts organizations, perform at several community events, and experience American culture and student life. The musicians will be 16-18 years old: a viola player, two pianists, and a traditional accordion player. They would love to be hosted by local families, preferably with children who are engaged with music.

Much of the students' schedules will be pre-arranged, and airport pickup/drop-off, local transportation, and daytime activities will be coordinated by the Fox Cities-Kurgan Sister Cities Program. A few weekdays of their time will be free, and we will ask local schools to allow them to spend the day with their host siblings in classes, experiencing the life of a high school student in the US. Host family responsibilities include providing daily drop-off and pickup at a central location, providing meals, and providing a comfortable home environment that includes the student in the family.

Hosting Opportunity for International Guests from Serbia

2.      April 5 - 13, 2013

A delegation of professionals from Serbia, ages 25-30, will be arriving in the Fox Cities at the beginning of April for a one-week professional development program coordinated by the United States Congress Open World Leadership Center. Delegates will be learning about young adult entrepreneurship and business in the Fox Cities, hoping to gain information and experience that they can bring back to stimulate the development of similar opportunities in Serbia.

Each weekday of the program is planned with meetings and professional experiences. All transportation and lunch during the professional program days is provided. Host families are responsible for airport pickup and drop-off at the Appleton airport, daily drop-off and pickup at a central location, and for providing their guests with all other meals and a comfortable home environment that helps them also be immersed in American culture, while they share their own with you. The delegates have one free weekend, and we ask host families to spend time with them as part of their own family during those days. These guests are screened carefully and host families have a fantastic experience welcoming them into their homes.
