Toward Community: How Close Are We?

posted Aug 24, 2013, 5:57 PM by Carolyn Desrosiers

In 1993, an organization was started to promote acceptance, fight racism, and bring people from diverse cultures together.  How close are we to being a community, a place where people truly celebrate differences?

Join us Thursday, September 19, 7 to 9 p.m. at UW-Fox Valley, 1478 Midway Road, Menasha, for "Toward Community: How Close Are We?" an educational, 20-year anniversary celebration of Toward Community: Unity In Diversity. This event is free and open to the public and features first person stories of life in the Fox Cities from members of the Hmong, Hispanic, African American, Jewish, Indian, and gay communities, as well as guitar and vocal performances from Tony Gonzalez, Erica Hamilton, and Socorro Rivera. There will be a reception with food and beverages to close out the evening.
